Dr. JP to Deliver Vavilala Lecture

Lok Satta Party President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan will be delivering the Vavilala Gopalakrishnayya Memorial Lecture at 10-00 a.m. on Sunday, April 29 at Ravindra Bharati in Hyderabad.

The topic of Dr. JP’s lecture, being organized by Vavilala Samstha, is ‘Political leadership – yesterday, today and benchmarks for the next generation.’

Vavilala Gopalakrishnayya (1906-2003), a Gandhian and freedom fighter, represented Sattenapalli in Guntur district in the Assemblies of the Madras Presidency, Andhra State and Andhra Pradesh. He took part in agitations for the formation of Andhra Pradesh, construction of the Nandigama irrigation project and ban on liquor. He was also associated with the cooperative and library movements. He served as Chairman of the Prohibition Implementation Committee and the Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission.
