Loksatta releases second list, keeping its doors open for electoral tie-ups

Even as it maintained that its doors are still open for electoral adjustments with the TDP and the BJP, the Loksatta Party this evening released its second list of candidates for 29 Assembly and three Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.

In the first list, the party had named candidates for 14 Assembly and one Lok Sabha seat in Telangana.

Releasing the second list at a media conference, Loksatta Party State President Katari Srinivasa Rao said the party has been forced to announce its candidates as the time for filing nominations in Telangana is running out. The party will release its third list either tonight or tomorrow. The list will include Assembly seats like Kukatpally and Qutbullapur for which there are a number of aspirants.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the party has so far not received an appropriate response to its proposals for electoral adjustments. The party would like to enter into adjustments based on its past electoral performance and the growing support to the party from first time voters.

In case electoral adjustments materialize even at the last hour, some of the party candidates will withdraw from the field abiding by party discipline.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that elections provide a great opportunity to take its agenda to people, whether there are electoral adjustments or not.

With today’s announcement, the Loksatta Party is fielding candidates in 4 Lok Sabha and 43 Assembly seats in Telangana.

It is planning to field candidates in 13 Lok Sabha and 75 Assembly seats in residuary Andhra Pradesh, according to a decision taken by the party coordination committee which met in Guntur today. The list will be released later.
